Since 2004, in parallel with the Congress, we have been conducting the International Workshop on Business Intelligence and Knowledge Management in the Enterprise, IntEmpres, which will be held now for the tenth time. IntEmpres was first held in 2000, and it has also taken place in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 in Brazil, 2006 in Cuba and Venezuela, and in 2007 it was held in Peru and Ecuador.

Considerable attendance of specialists from Latin American countries and Spain has been the main feature of these congresses, and this has made it possible to exchange experiences, with a focus on information institutions, university libraries, and library and information science associations and schools.

Senior executives and other specialists from international organizations and institutions have participated in Info and IntEmpres congresses. Regional and professional meetings have been held by those organizations and institutions as part of the general program of the Congress.

A related show known as ExpoInfo has also taken place in parallel with Info congresses. It is the framework where Cuban and foreign institutions and organizations exchange their information products and services, show their software, databases and other applications.

This time, Info’2010 and IntEmpres’2010 will bring together professionals and technicians concerned with information and related areas, who will discuss on the knowledge society, its most critical aspects, open access, free software and social networks, human development, the new spaces and management issues facing organizations, and the challenges posed by the new information and communication technologies, the new managerial approaches and the requirements to be met by professionals and institutions in the current environment.
